FIRST RETURN FROM CENSUS

Population Of Havelock

Town District

(P.A.) WELLINGTON, October 3. The first return from the recent census had been made available by the Government Statistician, who will have the population figures throughout New Zealand telegraphed to him as they are completed. The Havelock Town District sent in the first return which recorded a population of 244, compared with 269 in 1936, a decrease of 25. Population figures from the census will be inclusive of Maoris. The figures are preliminary, and are subject to later amendment. The 1936 figures are quoted for comparison, and amendments will be made where boundaries have been changed.
