ROAD TRANSPORT OF STOCK
Restrictions Removed.
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, August 28. The emergency regulations for the setting up of taxicab and goods transport control committees ire to be repealed immediately, the Minister of Transport, Mr O’Brien, announced today. The Minister said it was now proposed to disband all :hese committees except the taxicab control committees in the four main cities.
“At present, under tie stock code which is administered b? goods transport control committees, various restrictions are imposed on tie transport of stock by road,” he sgid. “These restrictions will now be removed and within reasonable limits stock may be transported by road.” I The Minister emphasized, however, that petrol advisory conmittees would still deal with applications for petrol, and applicants must satisfy these committees that the petrd asked for was for essential purposes? Mr O’Brien thanked the members of control committees for their excellent war work. They offer had a very distasteful job and were often subjected to local criticism for taking action which was necessary, he said.
