AIR FORCE SUPPLIES LOST

Diver’s Services Enlisted (P.A.) AUCKLAND, August 28. The activities of a diver who was engaged to search for missing Air Force stores at Mechanics Bay airport attracted considerable attention today. The mishap occurred during the loading of a New Zealand Air Force flying boat, and resulted in about 10 packages of supplies falling into the water beside the boat. These sank below the surface and could not be recovered. The services of a deep-sea diver were enlisted, and after a long search had been carried out on the sea-bed about three of the missing packages were brought to the surface. The remainder had been carried away by the current and could not. be traced.
