Mr J. P. Lynch, sub-editor of The Southland Times, who will leave on Monday for Auckland, where he will take up a position on the sub-editorial staff of The Auckland Star, was met by members of the literary staff yesterday. The acting editor, Mr M. H. Holcroft, made a presentation to Mr Lynch on behalf of the staff and wished him success in his new position. Mr Lynch has been a member of the literary staff of The Southland Times for 17 years. The bi-annual conference of the Post and Telegraph Employees’ Association in Wellington elepted the following officers: President, Mr J. G. Churchill (Wellington); executive committee, vice-president, senior, Mr G. A. Wilkes (Wellington), vice-president, junior, Mr D. A. Palmer (Dunedin) and Messrs T. Falconer (Hastings), M. A. Griffin (Palmerston North), L. A. Haynes (Christchurch), ’W. M. Huntington (Hamilton), S. M. A. Lamont (Westport) and I. W. Twiss (Wellington).— (P.A.)
