WELLINGTON DRIVERS

Objection To City By-law (P.A.) WELLINGTON, August 1. Arising out of the city bylaw forbidding double parking and parking within 12 inches of the kerb, under which drivers have been ’. penalized, 1200 members of the Wellington Drivers’ Union held a stopwork meeting this morning. It was decided not to deliver any more goods to city premises where delivery entails double parking, and promised full support to any member who might be intimidated by his employer for carrying out the resolution. It was also decided that if there was any prosecution for double parking before the suggested conference of interested parties, which will endeavour to reach a solution of the problem, a further stopwork meeting will be held. The conference referred to is between the Warehousemen’s Association, the Automobile Association, the town planner, the City Council By-laws Committee, the Master Carriers’ Association and the Transport Department.
