WEATHER DURING JULY The rainfall at Gore during July amounted to 3.22 inches, against 1.68 inches in July 1944. For the seven months of the year the amount of rain recorded was 25.95 inches, as compared with 21.26 inches for the corresponding period last year- ‘T* on 18 days, the heaviest fall being 52 points on July 11. There were two falls of snow on July 15 and July 26. Although the frosts were not heavy, they were fairly frequent, the hardest being 13 degrees on July 1. The highest maximum temperature was 56 degrees on July 31 and the lowest temperatures of 22 degrees were recorded on the nights of July 1 and July 4. The total of sunshine was 103 hours 13 minutes, bringing the total for the year to 926 hours 48 minutes. In 1944 the sunshine recorded amounted to 933 hours 36 minutes. Winds were light and variable. MOTOR-DRIVERS’ LICENCES.— The number of motor-drivers’ licences issued at the office of the Gore Borough during July was a record for any licensing year. The total number renewed and issued for the first time was 754, compared with 666 last year. UNRRA APPEAL— A splendid response has been made at Gore to the appeal for garments to be forwarded for the relief of distress in Europe. The number so far dispatched is more than 1000 and the Red Cross and Lady Galway rooms are filling up again with more stocks of clothing.
