ANCIENT GOLD COINS FOUND

Hoard Of German Loot In

Spain (Rec. 7 p.m.) LONDON, July 31. Gold coins dating back to the reigns of the Roman emperors Augustus, Caligula and Nero are among German loot which the Allied authorities are examining at Madrid, says The Evening Standard. The coins include every known currency except German, and there are also banknotes worth several million pounds from every country except Germany. Gold ingots were also found, including some Russian ingots, which were probably stolen during the advance to Stalingrad. Spaniards who banked or secreted German monies and treasures helped the Allied authorities to recover them. Part of the loot is believed to be Laval’s.
