DUTCH RESERVES OF GOLD
Big Consignment On Way Back To Holland
(Rec. 7 p.m.) LONDON, August 1. The first big consignment of gold to return to gold-starved Europe is at present lying crammed in the holds of a Dutch merchantman Amers Troom at a British port, says The Daily Express. It is part of the Dutch gold reserves dispatched to Britain after the Germans over-ran Holland. Other European Governments are likely to return to gold coin in an endeavour to kill off ttie European racket in British sovereigns. One London bullion dealer described the racket as terrific. He declared he had not seen a sovereign for months as racketeers were buying them up privately for as much as £4 each.
