DEATH OF CENTENARIAN
(P.A.) ASHBURTON, July 28. Mr Francis Orlando Berkett, who died at Ashburton on Thursday, was 101. Born in Nelson in 1844, Mr Berkett, who followed various occupations, chiefly labouring, in many parts of the South Island, came to Ashburton from Hororata last March. He was remarkably active for his age. He leaves one daughter.
