Notes for Women

Mrs D. J. Wesney, Thomson street, returned from a visit to Dunedin on Wednesday. Mrs Robert Henderson, Victoria Avenue, and Miss D. I. Buchanan, Kew Hospital, have returned from a visit to Queenstown. Mrs Trevor Dumbleton, Wyndham, arrives today to be the guest of her mother, Mrs J. D. Shand, Arthur street. Mrs A. G. Simmers, Nelson street, was hostess yesterday afternoon for Mrs Claud Gilman, Thames street, who leaves on Saturday to live in Dunedin. Mrs I. A. Ferguson, Lowe street, left on Wednesday on a visit to Wellington. The president, Mrs York, welcomed members and friends at the fortnightly meeting of the Radiant Health Club on Wednesday, and introduced the guest speaker, Dr F. G. Spurdie, who chose as his subject for an interesting address “Mind Psychology.” The librarian, Mrs E. R. Latham, gave a talk on books relating to the speaker’s subject. Mrs E. B. Orr, of Balfour, Dominion president of the W.D.F.U., leaves on Tuesday for Waimate, where she will attend a meeting of the Rest Home meeting. On July 12 she leaves for Wellington, where she will conduct the annual conference, the first full conference to be held since 1941. It will begin on July 17 and concludes on July 20. While in Wellington Mrs Orr will also attend a meeting of women leaders to discuss the proposed Auckland Hospital for women, convened by the New Zealand Obstetrical and Gynaecological Society.
