CAR COLLIDES WITH TRAIN

Four Persons Lose Lives HUSBAND, WIFE AND CHILD KILLED x (P.A.) AUCKLAND, June 10. Two persons were killed instantly, two died later in hospital and three others were injured in a level crossing accident which occurred at Suttie’s Crossing, one mile north of Huntly, yesterday afternoon, when a small sedan motor-car collided with a goods express train travelling from Auckland to Wellington. The victims were:— KILLED Arnold Luther Gubb, aged 33, married, with one child, a storekeeper of Rotowaro; driver of the car. Josephine Elizabeth Marshall, aged six, daughter of Mr and Mrs George Marshall, of Rotowaro. George Marshall, aged 39, married, with three children, father of Josephine Marshall, a miner of Rotowaro. Mrs Mabel Dorothy Marshall, aged 32. wife of George Marshall. INJURED Mrs Hilda McCallum, aged about 40, sister of Mrs Marshall; concussion and lacerations to the head. William Marshall, aged three years; concussion and shock. Baby Marshall, aged two weeks: concussion, lacerations to head and other injuries. The injured were removed to the Huntly Hospital. Marshall died in the Huntly Hospital. Later the injured were transferred to the Waikato Hospital at Hamilton, where Mrs Marshall died this morning. The party was on the way home to Rotowaro after Mr Marshall had collected his wife and infant daughter from the maternity hospital at Huntly. The car was wrecked and was carried about 60ft beyond the cattle stop. Mrs McCallum, -William Marshall and the infant girl were all’ reported to be in a very serious condition tonight.
