SssL to incited BUTTERFAT PRODUCTION New Zealand farmers can take pride in their present butterfat production but—STILL MORE IS REQUIRED if Britain's weekly ration of 2 ounces of butter per head is io be maintained. Our 1945-46 objective is 190,000 tons of butterfat and, with the wonderful grass season we are experiencing, this-figure is within reach. Every cow is going to count. With ample winter feed in surplus standing pasturage and hay silage and roots it is possible to retain all cows that can be expected to give even a moderate amount of butterfat. Assure our butterfat position by (1) Continuing to milk cows not in calf (2) Retaining all sound cows and reducing culling to the minimum v (3) Wintering well, by early feeding of supplementary fodder (4) Using animal manure on pastures or crops (5) Concentrating top dressing on the best pastures. TO KEEP FIT IS OF NATIONAL IMPORTANCE Have you ever thought what illhealth costs? Firstly, the loss of earnings—then the inability to maintain a good position—lastly, the handicap which limits the development of physical growth and mental powers. Remember the millions of pounds illhealth costs, both nationally and individually each year. Unfortunately, it is not within our power to command good health, but having it, we can maintain it, and finding ourselves losing it, in many cases we can stem the tide. For either purpose Dr Morse’s Indian Root Pills are unsurpassed. They act on the Liver and other digestive organs, regulate the bowels, stimulate the flow of bile, and thus maintain the system in a healthy condition. W. H. Comstock Co.
