SOUVENIR HUNTERS AT BERCHTESGADEN
LONDON, June 3. Tens of thousands of soldiers and sightseers are pouring in from a radius of 100 miles to see Hitler’s bombgutted mountain home, says the correspondent of Reuter’s at Berchtesgaden. Troops hunting for souvenirs stripped Hitler’s and Goering’s houses bare, even carrying off slabs of marble from mantelpieces. Jeeps and lorries move bonnet to tail in an endless procession up the alpine road to Berchtesgaden.
