BANK OF NEW ZEALAND
Sir, —“B. Brief” asks in your issue of Friday if I will excuse him “if he corrects me on one small point in my lengthy epistles on the Bank of New Zealand.” He then explains that mob rule is not what I contend it is, but rule by force, and that whether it is by trade unions or disorganized sections of the community is beside the point. The explanation of “B. Brief” leaves me cold. Now, sir, here again are Mr Martin’s words, with unions clearly referred to as mobs: “The dominating of Cabinet by labour unions, if allowed to continue, must ultimately lead to mob rule.” “B. Brief” does not want any further proof of what is inferred. That is what raised my ire. I would remind “B. Brief” that while brevity is the soul of wit, and very desirable from the editorial standpoint, he should also be sure of his facts. Therefore, sir, I do not have to raise my hat in salutation and acknowledgment of having to stand corrected. H. JEFFERIES.
