WEDNESDAY (Before Mr R. C. Abernethy, S.M.) For having no driving licence, Colin Gordon McKenzie was fined 10/-, costs 10/-. John Harvey (Otatarft), for allowing stock to wander on a highway, was fined £3, costs 12/-. Warren Chalmers, for speeding when driving a car, was fined 30/-, costs 10/-. Aubrey de Garnham, for having no rear reflector on his bicycle, was ordered to pay costs 10/-; for riding an unlighted bicycle he was fined 10/-, costs 10/-. For failing to give way to a tramcar at an intersection, John McLaren McKeown (Wright’s Bush) was fined £2, costs 18/-. William Johnston pleaded guilty to a charge of negligent driving and was fined £l, costs 10/-. Gilbert Thomas Staite (Rosedale) for failing to give way to traffic on his right when driving a motor-vehicle, was fined 10/-, costs 10/-. Thomas Edward Morris (Gore), for having no driver’s licence for his motorcycle, was fined 15/-, costs 10/-.. Desmond Barlow, for having liquor in his possession at a dance hall, was fined £2/10/-, costs 10/-. Similarly charged, Lloyd John Livingston (Fortification) was fined £2/10/-, costs 10/-. For exceeding the speed limit in a motor-car, Archibald Forde (Wairio) was fined 10/-, costs 12/-.. For carrying on an unlicensed goods service, A-One City Carriers was fined £l/10/-, costs 10/-. For permitting a person other than the hirer to drive a rental vehicle, Francis Dougherty was fined £l/10/-, costs 10/-. For having no driving licence, Stanley Matthews was fined 10/-, costs 10/-; for having insufficient lights on his motorvehicle he was fined 5/—, costs 10/-, and for having no warrant of fitness he was fined 5/-, costs 10/-. James T. Moir, for driving a car at night without displaying lights, was convicted and ordered to pay costs. 10/-. Desmond Creedy, for riding a bicycle at night without a light, was fined 10/-, costs 12/-; similarly charged, May Henderson was ordered to pay costs 10/-; Arthur Hope was ordered to pay costs 11/-;. Bruce Henderson was fined 5/-, costs 10/-; Ethel Young was fined 5/-, costs 10/-. For standing a vehicle otherwise than with the direction of the roadway, Marie S. Searle was fined 10/-, costs 10/-; similarly charged, Allan H. Warburton was fined 10/-, costs 10/-. An information against John Ernest Rask (Mr L. F. Moller) for allegedly ) driving without due care and attention was dismissed. FAILURE TO ENROL Thomas John Dawson, a labourer, aged 41, was fined £l2, costs 10/-, on a charge of failing to enrol as a military reservist. He pleaded not guilty, but could not produce his enrolment card. It was stated by the police that for several years he had neither levy nor ration books. The National Mortgage and Agency Co. Ltd., was fined £lO, costs 10/—, for employing an unregistered reservist.
