HUGE SHEEP LOSSES
(Rec. 7.40 p.m.) SYDNEY, May 22. Sheep losses from the recent drought now exceed 6,000,000,' says Dr H. J. Hynes,.of the Commonwealth Department of Agriculture. He adds that when losses from causes other than, drought and poor lambing are tallied, the total will be staggering. In the south-western district of New South Wales feed has almost disappeared, and surface water supplies are nearing exhaustion. This area carried more than 20,000,000 sheep, almost half the total for New South Wales and more than 400,000 head of cattle.
