CAPTAIN McINTYRE’S PAINTINGS

High Praise By English Artist (Official War Correspondent, 2nd N.Z.E.F.) TRIESTE, May 21. High praise for the work of the New Zealand official war artist, Captain Peter Mclntyre, has been expressed in a letter written by the distinguished English painter, Mi' W. Russell Flint. Writing of Captain Mclntyre’s recent exhibition in London, mainly of pictures illustrating the New Zealanders in the Italian campaign, Mr Flint says: “Excellent. I am delighted. He has just the right balance between artistry, realism and journalistic vividness for a war artist. I wish that more of our war pictures had his qualities. His picture of the bombing of Cassino is brilliant —quite a masterpiece, and his drawings, as well as many of his other paintings, attracted me strongly. He is both a good draughtsman and a good painter.” '
