Mr G. H. Grigg, chairman of the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board, Mr James Begg, a member of the board, and Mr J. J. Evans, the new general manager, visited Invercargill on Tuesday. In the morning they conferred with the Meat and Wool Committee of the Southland Provincial Executive of the Farmers’ Union, and in the afternoon they attended a meeting of farmers for the purpose of discussing matters of importance to the meat industry. They left on their return north yesterday. The High Commissioner for the Western Pacific, Mr A. W. G. Grantham, and Mrs Grantham have arrived at Government House, Wellington.— (PA.) The acting Prime Minister, Mr Nash, announced last night that the Govern-nor-General had appointed Mr T. H. McCombs, M.P. for Lyttelton, to be Parliamentary Under-Secretary to the Minister of Finance. —(P.A.) Brigadier L. M. Inglis, a former brigade commander with the 2nd N.Z.E.F., has been reposted to the Territorial Force with the temporary rank of brigadier. Able Seaman R. A. Anderson, Sergeants J. R. Wesney and J. D. Waddell, Messrs C. V. Shirley (Invercargill), A. J. Hyder (Wellington), G. H. Grigg . (Hororata), S. E. T. Crimp and the Rev. John Chisholm (Dunedin) were the guests at the weekly luncheon of the Invercargill Rotary Club on Tuesday afternoon. Mr Lionel Leary, advance manager for the Stan Lawson Musical Revue, “Wait For It,” was in Invercargill on Tuesday to make arrangements for the appearance of the company on May 7. Guests at the Grand Hotel include Messrs J. W. Goodwin (Wanganui), R. J. Blair (Wellington), R. Stuart, Lieutenant C. Fabling, Mr and Mrs J. Glasgow (Christchurch), Messrs C. L. Marett, C. E. Matthews, C. R. Birchall (Dunedin), and Mr and Mrs W. R. Christie (Balclutha).
