Stewart, Masterton, is the guest of Mrs Neil Watson, Wellesley avenue. Mrs Geoffrey Broughton, Kelvin street, returns today from a holiday in Alexandra. Mrs H. P. Cowie, Avenal street, has returned from a holiday in Christchurch. Mrs T. M. Watson, Merrivale, ’ who has been the guest of Mrs A. R. Dunlop, Ramrig street, has returned home. Mrs A. C. Tansley, and the Misses Gwen and June Tansley, Ythan street, leave today on a visit to Wanganui. Mrs Jessie Street, a well-known woman leader in the Labour party and social' work movement in Australia, has been selected as one of the Australian delegates to the conference at San Francisco. Mrs Mackie Begg, of Dunedin, was elected national president of the Y.W.C.A. at the Dominion convention held in New Plymouth. A former Invercargill resident, Mrs R. S. Mclnnes, has been appointed a member of the national executive. Mr and Mrs J. Lockerbie, who are leaving the Otapiri district, were bidden farewell by residents at a social gathering in the Otapiri Hall. A presentation was made to Mr and Mrs Lockerbie by Mr G. Owen, who expressed the district’s best wishes for their future. Mrs T. McGillivray, on behalf of the W.D.F.U., presented Mrs Lockerbie with a gift. Southland Women’s Club, Opening Night, Music Circle, tonight (Tuesday), at 7.45 p.m. Advt.
