CONSERVATIVE CANDIDATE —
The Conservatives have selected Brigadier J. G. Smyth, V.C., to oppose Mr Ernest Bevin in the general election. Brigadier Smyth served at Dunkirk and in Burma before retiring from the Army because of ill-health. (London).
