POSTHUMOUS AWARD TO MR ROOSEVELT

(Rec. 8 p.m.) WASHINGTON, April 18. Bills have been introduced into both Houses to award posthumously the Congressional Medal of Honour, the nation’s highest honour, to Mr Roosevelt. No other President has ever received this medal. A statement presented to the House of Representatives said: “Mr Roosevelt has gallantly and unselfishly given his life in the service.of this nation as Conunander-in-Chief of the armed forces, and he was an outstanding leader of the Allied nations in the cause of world peace. No man in the country’s history had ' laboured longer and worked with such patience and diligence in .his battle against the tyranny which, if successful, would have enslaved us all.”
