Who is Private Jones?

Who is the Private Jones, of Invercargill, who was with Sergeant J. D. Hinton, V.C., when he won his award? In an interview cabled from London, and printed in The Southland Times yesterday, Sergeant Hinton referred to Private Jones as “one of the bravest lads I have ever seen.” He added: “I would like to know what became of him.” So would Sergeant Hinton’s mother, who lives at Colac Bay. She has been trying to trace Private Jones, and had made inquiries in Hokitika, where it was first thought he came from. If any returned man who fought in Greece can assist in tracing the Private Jones mentioned, The Southland Times would like to hear from him.
