RED CROSS NEWS
The office of the society is situated in the H. and H. Motors’ Buildings and is open daily from 10 a.m. till 4 p.m. Telephone 3025; Post Office Box 150. The society wishes to acknowledge with thanks the following donations:—Mr W. B. Farnie, Yarrow street, £3; Mr A, R. Dixon, Riverton, £2; W.D.F.U. Orepuki, £2/10/- for S. and W. fund; Seaward Downs Sub-Centre, £l5 for S and W. fund; same Sub-Centre £l5 for P.O.W. fund; same Sub-Centre, £lO Centre fund; same Sub-Centre, £5 for Transport fund; Georgetown E.P.S. area No. 9, £9/16/-. During the week refugee clothing parcels have been received from Waimatuku and Wyndham Sub-Centres. A donation of biscuits has also been received from the members of the Waimatuku branch for soldiers in hospital. A parcel of clothing for people in Greece was sent in by the W.D.F.U. Winton-Hed-don Bush R. D.
Lavender bags have also been received from the Wyndham branch. Next week, members of the Georgetown branch will be in charge of the hut, Kew Hospital. East Invercargill will follow. Members of the Avenal-Northend branch will undertake duties at the Depot. Knitted garments have been returned from the Wyndham sub-centre.
Gladstone Committee.—Members of the sewing guild will meet on Monday, April 9 at 2.30 p.m. at the residence of Mrs T. F. Gilkison, Grey street. The honorary organizer J.R.C. thanks the Five Rivers and Fortrose Circles for buttons received this week. V.A.D. Notes.—Elementary and intermediate home nursing class begins at 7.30 p.m. on Tuesday. Enrolments will be taken at the office from 7 p.m.
