Misses Georgina Nicholson and Isabel Lindsay, Winton, who spent the Easter holidays at the Presbyterian Bible Class Camp at Waianiwa, have returned home. Mrs Robert Stout, who has been visiting Mrs W. F. Sturman, Earnslaw street, has left for Queenstown, where she will make a short stay before returning to Timaru. Hostesses for Miss Roa Breayley, whose marriage takes place today, have been Mrs A. Breayley, Mrs E. Fraser, Mrs H. Breayley, Miss I. Woodley and Mrs G. Georgeson.

Mrs A. C. Horne, wife of Lieutenant-Com-mander Horne, R.N., has recently arrived in New Zealand after having been overseas for five years. She has been living in Plymouth, London and Scotland. Mrs Horne spent a few months in New Zealand before joining her husband, who is taking an appointment in Australia. Lieutenant-Commander Horne is the eldest son of the late Mr C. Horne, of Gala street, Invercargill, and of Mrs Horne, now of Auckland. At St. Paul’s Church on Saturday evening. March 31 the marriage was solemnized of Margaret Ainslie, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs A. Macaiister, and lan Ronald Park McLeod, only son of Mr and Mrs Ronald A. Douglas, Russel street, Gladstone. The bridesmaids were Miss Ngaire Macaiister, sister of the bride, and Miss Robin Macdonald, Don street, Mr Darwent Dodgshun, Dunedin, was best man, and Mr Peter Gresson, of Invercargill, groomsman. Mr and Mrs lan Douglas will live in Dunedin.

OBITUARY.—Mrs Nellie Elizabeth Macartney, whose death occurred at Gore on March 25, was a well-known resident of Mataura and was the youngest daughter of the late Mr and Mrs James Park, of Mataura. Mrs Macartney was born at Mataura in 1888. She was educated at the Mataura school and spent the major portion of her life in the district. In 1908 she married Mr James Macartney, of Mataura. Her main interest in life, apart from her home, was her church, indifferent health over the past 20 years preventing her from taking an active part in other outside work. A memorial service was held at the Mataura Presbyterian Church last Sunday, conducted by the Rev. J. Badcock, Reference was made to Mrs Macartney’s long association with the church and the service she gave to its youth organizations in the earlier years of her association with the church. She is survived by her husband and two sons, Lieutenant J. A. C. Macartney, of Burnham Military Camp, and Private M. W, P. Macartney, of the Middle East Forces. S.G.H.S.O.G.A. annual dinner will be held in Smith’s Tearooms on Wednesday, April 11, at 6.30 p.m. All old girls of the school wishing to attend must ring 460 by Monday, April 9.—Advt.
