CHARLIE CHAPLIN IN COURT
Dispute About Paternity ’ Of Child (Rec. 7.30 p.m.) LOS ANGELES, Jan. 4. The jury failed to agree in the case in which the actress, Joan Barry, sought to have Charlie Chaplin declared the father of her child. After six ballots, the jury was divided 7 to 5, whereupon the judge declared a mis-trial. The American Associated Press says that an informal poll showed that six women jurors and one man favoured declaring Charlie Chaplin not the father of Joan Barry’s child. Joan Barry’s attorney said the action would be reinstituted immediately.
