N.Z. NAVAL OFFICER GAINS D.S.C.

SERVICES IN ASSAULT ON NORMANDY COAST (P.A.) AUCKLAND, December 18. The award of the Distinguished Service Cross for services which led up to the successful assault on the Normandy coast has been made to Lieutenant John Forgie, R.N.Z.N.V.R., younger son of Mrs J. R. and the late Mr Forgie, of Remuera, according to notification received from the Minister of Defence. Lieutenant Forgie, commanding a 72ft motor launch, acted as navigation leader piloting convoys during the landing operations.
