NEW MINISTER AT BLUFF
Induction Ceremony The Rev. F. Robertson, 8.A., who until recently was minister at Pukerau, was inducted into the pastoral charge of the Presbyterian Church at Bluff. The Moderator of the Southland Presbytery, the Rev. Hugh Graham, conducted the service and performed the induction ceremony. The Rev. A. Kernohan preached the sermon on the subject “The Triumph of being a Christian,” and the Rev. C. J. Tocker
spoke to the newly-inducted minister on “An Ambassador for Christ,” and to the congregation on their responsibilities towards the minister and the church. After the service a welcome social was tendered to Mr and Mrs Robertson and their family. Mr D. J. Robertson spoke on behalf of the session, Mr C. W. McKenzie for the deacons’ court, Mrs Vickery for the P.W.M.U., Mrs T. Gray for the Ladies’ Guild, Miss McLeod for the Young Ladies’ Guild, Mrs Wilson for the choir, Mr A. M. Wilson for the Men’s Club, Miss Jean Winter for the Girls’ Auxiliary, Miss Vickery for the Busy Bees, Miss Jamieson for the Bible Classes, and Mr T. Gray for
the Sunday School. Greetings were expressed by Mr Graham on behalf of the presbytery, and by the Rev. C. E. Roke for the Methodist Church. An apology for his unavoidable absence was received from the Rev. J. Day, of the Church of England. Greetings were also received from the Mataura Presbytery. An opportunity was taken to express thanks and make a presentation to Mr Graham, who had been interim-moder-ator during the vacancy. Several items were given during the evening by members of the choir.
