Temperatures Milder (Special) WELLINGTON, Dec. 17. Following is the special forecast for Southland issued by the Meteorological Office this evening for the period ending 5 p.m. tomorrow: — A depression is passing eastward off the North Island. A trough is advancing across the west Tasman. Light to moderate and variable winds. The weather fair. Temperatures milder.
The weather in Invercargill on Saturday was mainly dull and overcast, with intermittent showers. A moderate southerly wind prevailed. Rain fell early yesterday morning, but the weather later cleared and the sun shone in the afternoon. A fresh easterly wind blew during the day. The weather at 1 o clock this morning was cold and clear, with a light southerly wind. The barometer reading was 29.80 in (rising). THE TIDES. —High water, Invercargill 4.39 a.m., 4.55 p.m.; Bluff, 3.58 a.m., 414 pm.; Riverton, 2.58 a.m., 3.14 p.m.; Oreti Beach, 3.07 a.m., 3.23 p.m. THE SUN.— Ris es- 4.48 a.m.; sets, 8.39 o.m.
