RECORD CROSSING OF TASMAN

Liberator Makes Trip In 5 Hrs 52 Min. (P.A. ) WELLINGTON, December 15. “On a scheduled trip in the recently established Empire air service a Liberator made a record crossing of the Tasman yesterday, accomplishing the journey from Mascot aerodrome, Sydney to Whenuapai in 5 hours 52 minutes,” said the Minister of Defence, Mr Jones, today. The previous best time was six hours two minutes by a trans-Tasman flying boat in charge of Captain Oscar Garden, in October 1941.
