Mr H. M. Patrick Appointed Director-General (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Dec. 14. The Postmaster-General, Mr Webb, stated today that following the retirement of the Director-General, Mr J. G. Young, and other- postal officers, a number of changes in important executive positions in the Post Office have been approved. Mr H. M. Patrick, who recently succeeded Mr J. Madden as Deputy Direc-tor-General, will assume office of Director-General on February 7. Mr C. L. Mayo, who was recently appointed Second Deputy Director-General, will become Deputy Director-General. Mr P. N. Cryer becomes Second Deputy Director-General. Mr M. A. Pike has been appointed chief engineer and Mr E. H. R. Green succeeds Mr Pike as deputy chief engineer. Mr V. R. Earnshaw becomes superintending engineer (mechanical). Mr W. M. B. Veitch, district engineer at Wellington, becomes superintending engineer of the General Post Office and Mr H. W. Curtis, principal of the Telegraph Division, becomes a divisional director of the General Post Office.

Mr Veitch was formerly district telegraph engineer at Invercargill for three years, leaving in 1936 to take the position of district telegraph engineer at Dunedin. In 1937 he was promoted to the position of district telegraph engineer at Wellington.
