RARE N.Z. STAMPS SOLD IN LONDON

(Rec. 9.30 p.m.) LONDON, Dec. 12. Rare stamps of British possessions in the south Pacific brought high prices at a Bond street sale when £52/10/was paid for five die proofs of the first issue of New Zealand, representing nominal values of Id, 2d, 3d and 6d, in black on Indian paper. A horizontal pair of 2d dull blue stamps, issued in New Zealand in 1863, brought £32. Seven die proofs of the 1860 Queensland issue were sold at £45, and a 2d blue New South Wales 1859 at £37.
