RESULTS OF CYCLING AND RUNNING
Evening Sports Meeting The Invercargill Amateur Cycling Club held its weekly evening sports meeting at the South Invercargill Domain last night. An interesting feature was racing between two cyclists and two runners over a distance of 100 yards. The cyclists were the winners. Youths’ running races were held for the first time. Several runners were present and, it is hoped to organize races each week. The results were:— One Mile (14 started) —First heat: R. J. Smith (55yds) 1. R. McDougal (scr) 2, A. Dawson (10) 3. Time, 3,5 2-5. Second heat: T. Catherell (180) 1, M. Beer (10) 2, R. Harris (10) 3. Time, 3.5. Final: T. Catherell 1, R. Smith 2, A. Dawson 3. Time, 3.1 2-5. Two Miles (11 starters)—R. Smith (120yds) 1, R. O’Connor (300) 2, A. Henderson (300) 3. Time, 6.22. Youths’ Half-mile—J. Stone 1, R. Ackland 2, M. Healey 3. Runner v. Cyclist—A. Jones beat G. Sutherland by 3 yards. Time, 11 2-ssec. R. McDougal beat J. Ferguson by 2 yards. Time, 11 l-ssec.
Youths’ 440 Yards (running)—M. Healey 1, J. Prentice 2, A. Sutherland 3. Boys' 440 Yards (running)—A. Clark 1, M. Homer 2, M. Sutherland 3.
DRAW FOR BASEBALL MATCHES
