WAIPIATA SANATORIUM COMMITTEE

STATISTICS SUBMITTED According to a report submitted to a meeting of the Waipiata Sanatorium Committee by the Medical Superintendent, Dr A. Kidd, 32 patients were admitted to the institution, during October 28 were discharged and 140 were in the institution at the end of the month. He recommended as suitable for admission to the sanatorium five patients from Southland and two from South Canterbury, a total of seven.

Dr A. H. Webb, the committee’s assistant medical officer, wrote resigning from his position as from December 31. The committee accepted the resignation with regret, thanked Dr Webb for his past services and wished him every success in his new appointment as assistant medical officer at the Cashmere Sanatorium.

The secretary reported that on November 27 the associated boards had patients in the institution as follows:—Southland 75, South Canterbury 29, Ashburton 8, Waitaki 17, South Otago 8, Vincent 7, Maniototo 3; total, 147. Since the previous meeting five patients from two hospital districts had been discharged and there was a waiting list of 10 patients from three districts, one patient having been notified that a bed was available. . ..u The treasurer submitted statements of tne committee’s receipts and payments showing that on October 31 there was a credit balance of £10,854/18/1, which includes an amount of £lO,OOO invested on fixed deposit for capital works not yet begun. Statements of receipts and payments for the seven months ended October 31, as compared with the amounts estimated for the period, were also submitted, the actual maintenance receipts being £ll5B/10/3 below the estimate and the actual maintenance payments £344 10/5 above the estimate. Patients’ fees amounting to £lBO5/8/- were received after the close of the period.
