DOMINION PRISONERS IN ITALY

144 To Be Accounted For (PA.) WELLINGTON, December 2. New Zealand prisoners of war numbering 144 are still to be accounted for after the collapse of Italy, states the Prisoner of War Inquiry Office. Of approximately 3600 New Zealanders in Italian camps at the time of the capitulation 3000 were transferred to Germany, 103 escaped to Switzerland and 294 reached the Allied lines, including three in the last fortnight. This leaves approximately 144 to be accounted for. They are mainly from the following camps: PGIO7, 89 men; PGIO6, 24 men; PGS7, 14 men; PGI2O, four men; PGBS, three men. There are five other camps where the balance were located.
