meeting of association The possibility that three camps for Southland Girl Guides would be held during the. coming season was mentioned by the District Commissioner, Miss C. L. Cumming, at the annual meeting of the Invercargill Girl Guides’ Association held in the Y.M.C.A. last night. Guides had attended tw6 camps last summer, but this year, it was expected that 80 girls would be under canvas. Miss Cumming presided at the meeting, and welcomed the provincial commissioner, Mrs J. G. Macdonald, the provincial president, Mrs R. Burns Watson, the provincial secretary, Mrs A. C. Dickens, and a member of the provincial executive, Mrs J. D. Campbell. Mrs Macdonald thanked Miss M. Manson, district commissioner, for work done for the recent rally. The speaker for the evening was Mrs F. J. Spurdie, who spoke of the school at St. Vincent in the West Indies which shfe and her husband had reorganized for the Methodist Missionary Society.
Miss Cumming introduced and thanked the speaker. The following office-bearers were elected:—President, Mrs H. A. Brumby; vice-presidents, Lady Anderson, Mesdames J. N. Armour, M.. H. Mitchel, R. Pollok, F. M. Corkill, D. Pottinger, Mrs J. Stobo and Misses Asher and M. W. May; executive committee, Mesdames A. J. Deaker, J. F. Irvine, M. E. Harrington, A.L.D. Kean, R. T. Strathern, Q. E. Watts, H. W. Smith, G. H. Uttley, J. Watson, G. G. Douglas, C. C. Munnings, G. E. Mortimer, J. P. Jensen and the district commissioners, Miss Cumming and Miss Manson; honorary secretary and treasurer, Miss E. Lipscombe; honorary auditor, Miss E. S. Hackworth.
