The defection of Bayard and Loyal Rey has left a field of 14. A condition inserted in the pro-

gramme reads as follows: —“Notwithstanding payments for nominations and acceptances having been made, the committee reserves the right to select the horses which shall go to the post, the selections to be made immediately after the final payments have been made.” The committee did not come to a decision this evening, but will meet tomorrow morning, when it is expected that the field will be finally decided.
