GOODS FOR CIVILIANS AFTER WAR
(8.0.W.) RUGBY, October 23. Speaking in the House of Commons the President of the Board of Trade, Mr Hugh Dalton, gave an assurance that British civilians would get supplies of necessities, such as clothing, household linen and furniture as soon as possible after the war. Mr Dalton added that it was a necessary condition of setting an export drive going to give the civilian population “a bit of a lift up” so that they might realize that something was coming to them right now and not “in the sweet by. and by,”
