Becoming Milder
(Special) WELLINGTON, October 23. Following is the special forecast for Southland issued by the Meteoro ogical Office this evening for the period ending 5 p.m. tomorrow: — A wedge of high pressure over the south Tasman Sea is advancing on to the South Island. Fresh westerly to north-westerly winds. Weather fair and becoming milder.
The weather was cold and windy in Invercargill yesterday. There was a good deal of sunshine during the day, but a few showers »fell during the morning and evening. A cold westerly wind prevailed. At 1 o’clock this morning the weather was cold and cloudy with a strong westerly wind. The barometer reading was 30.10 in. (rising). The Tides.—High water, Invercargill, 7.56 a.m., 8.25 p.m.; Bluff, 7.15 a.m., 7.44 p.m.; Riverton, 6.15 a.m., 6.44 p.m.; Oreti Beach, 6.24 a.m., 6.53 p.m. The Sun.—Rises, 5.36 a.m.; sets, 7.27 p.m.
