VITAL STATISTICS FOR MONTH
Vital statistics for Bluff for September, with those for the same period last year in parentheses, were as follows:— Births, 4 (5); deaths, 1 (3); marriages, 1 (1).
The figures for the quarter ending September 30, with those for the corresponding period last year in parentheses, were:—Births, 10 (11); deaths, 6 (6); marriages, 2 (1). NATIONAL SAVINGS.— Last week Bluff, for the 141st week, filled its quota of national savings. The postmaster, Mr A. M. Wilson, stated that another £3O worth of Victory bonds had been sold by women members of the Patriotic Committee and the W.W.S.A.
OYSTERING SEASON.— Though the oyster season has closed, it will be a week or two before it can be considered over for the oystermen, as the overhaul of the boats has begun. This is expected to take some time. GIRL GUlDES.— Because of rain, arrangements for the camp fire ceremony which was to be held by the Girl Guides on the golf links on Saturday, had to be altered. Instead the guides met in Barber’s Hall, where an imitation fire was prepared and the ceremony held. On Saturday, Sea Rangers, Guides and Brownies of the Bluff troop will attend the rally to be held ia.Runta Cork.
