ISLANDS NEAR CRETE
Occupation By Allies
LONDON, October 1. British forces have landed on three Greek islands, one of them between Crete and the mainland. This first move towards the liberation of Greece was unopposed, the Germans evacuating before the liberating forces arrived. The troops received a great welcome from the islanders.
