“Saved Crew And Aircraft From Disaster”

(P.A.) WELLINGTON, September 30. For courage and devotion to duty which “undoubtedly saved his crew and aircraft from disaster,” Flying Officer Douglas James Naismith Gibson, a son of Mr R. Gibson, of Wanganui, has been awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross.

The citation adds that Flying Officer Gibson has completed many operational sorties with marked success and several times has led sections in formation attacks.
