MANY PLANES. SAVED

Work Of Observer Corps (8.0.W.) RUGBY, September 24. It is estimated that more than 2000 British bombers in distress have been saved from almost certain disaster through reports from observer posts in Britain in the past three years. Apart from aircraft that represents about 12,000 skilled airmen. The Royal Observer Corps is therefore not being reduced.

Air Marshal Sir Roderic Hill, Officer Commanding the Air Defence of Great Britain, informing the Observer Corps of this decision, added that a large percentage of the flying bombs destroyed were brought down solely through the vigil of the corps.
