DEATH PREFERRED

(Special Australian Correspondent, N.Z.P.A.)

(Rec. 9.40 p.m.) SYDNEY, Aug. 4, Despite the number taken during the current American opera- . tions in Dutch New Guinea, a marked tendency persists among Japanese troops in the area to choose a violent death rather than submit to captivity.
