Fair to Showery (Special) WELLINGTON, August 4. Following is the special forecast for Southland issued by the Meteorological Office this evening for the period ending 5 p.m. tomorrow:— Moderate northerly winds prevailing with fair weather, but later a change to fresh south-westerlies with a period of showers. Temperatures remaining cold. Thirteen degrees of frost was experienced in Invercargill yesterday morning, this being one of the heaviest frosts recorded this winter. Conditions later were fine and clear, with bright sunshine throughout the day. Temperatures fell during the evening with signs of another frost. The weather at 1 o’clock this morning was cold and clear. The barometer reading was 29.96 in. (falling). THE TlDES.— Saturday: High water, Invercargill, 3.11 a.m., 3.41 p.m. Bluff, 2.30 a.m., 3.00 p.m. Riverton, 1.30 am., 2.00 p.m. Oreti Beach, 1.39 am., 2.09 pm. Sunday: High water, Invercargill, 4.00 a.m„ 4,30 p.m. Bluff, 3.19 a.m., 3.49 pm. Riverton, 2.19 am., 2.49 pm. Oreti Beach, 2.28 am., 2.58 pm. THE SUN.—Saturday: Rises, 8.04 am., sets, 5.42 p.m. Sunday: Rises, 8.03 a.m., sets, 5.43 p.m.
