Scattered Showers

(Special) WELLINGTON, May 9. Following is the special forecast for Southland issued by the Meteorological office this evening for the period ending 5 p.m. tomorrow:— Moderate to fresh winds from a westerly quarter. The weather changeable with scattered showers, chiefly in the west; temperatures moderate.

During yesterday morning the weather in Invercargill was cool and overcast. The sky cleared in the afternoon, when warm sunny weather was enjoyed. At 1 o’clock this morning the weather was cool and cloudy with a light north-westerly wind. The barometer reading was 29.70 in (rising). THE TIDES.—High water, Invercargill, 4.05 a.m., 4.28 p.m.; Bluff, 3.24 a.m., 3.47 p.m.: Riverton, 2.24 a.m., 2.47 p.m.; Oreti Beach, 2.33 a.m., 2.56 p.m. THE SUN—Rises, 7.55 a.m.; sets, 5.30 p.m.
