INCREASED WORK DURING YEAR

The year had been a very full one and the work of the association had increased because of the large number of 2nd N.Z.E.F. men returning, said the president of the Invercargill Returned Services Association (Mr Hugh Crawford), when moving the the adoption of the annual report and balance-sheet at the annual meeting of the association on Saturday night Mr Crawford said that the increased membership had necessitated extensions of the association’s rooms and this work was being carried out. Mr Crawford said that the year had been unique in that there had been three presidents. Dr A. Owen-John-stone, who had been elected president at the last annual meeting, had gone overseas during the year and his place had been taken by the vice-president, Mr P. L. Hodge. On Mr Hodge’s transfer to Christchurch Mr Crawford himself had taken over.
The treasurer (Mr P. J. J. McMullan) reported that the association was in a sound financial position. _ Subscriptions had shown a substantial increase, he said. The annual report and balance-sheet were adopted. The following office-bearers were elected:—President, Mr Hugh Crawford; vice-president, Mr William Bell; treasurer, Mr P. J. J. McMullan (2nd N.Z.E.F.), committee, Messrs H. Ritchie, J. Tait, J. J. Breen, L. R. Lopdell, A. J. McKenzie, R. H. A. Smith, D. F. Leckie (Ist and 2nd N.Z.E.F.), A. Smyth (2nd N.Z.E.F.), J. K. Robbie (2nd N.Z.E.F.), J. Welfare (Western District), and R. E. Monteith (Eastern District); auditors, Messrs Orr, Lunn and Calvert; representative to the Southland War Funds Committee, Mr W. F. H. Stone;
