PROFITEERS FINED

(Rec. 7 p.m.) LONDON, May 6. Fines totalling £14,033, with 140 guineas costs, were imposed in Board of Trade prosecutions against a London firm of wholesale mantle manufacturers, the Green, Hearn Company. The directors, in addition, were fined £4262 each, with 50 guineas costs. Another director was fined £350 with 50 guineas costs. The company was accused of overcharging retailers £47,000 in the sale of over 160,000 women’s utility garments over a period of 18 months, with the result that the public had been overcharged by £67,000.
