NATIONAL SAVINGS IN INVERCARGILL

125th Weekly Success

So far this week investments in national war sa’vings at Invercargill have amounted to £2129, which is £495 in excess of the city’s weekly quota. Yesterday investments totalling £ll9B were received. This gives toe city its 125th weekly success since the quota scheme was introduced in October 1941. The surplus will be carried forward to make up toe quota for any week during which the actual investments total less than £1634.

Commenting on the greatly increased investments during toe last few months the district organizer, Mr W. G. Nield, stated: “The possibility of the early invasion of Europe with its probable effect on toe duration of toe war is apparently a factor. It seems to be generally realized that a big all-in effort is required on the home front to back up our forces overseas.”
