Fat steers were wanted at up to £l5/12/6, others realizing from £ll to £l2, mediums from £8 12/6 upwards and lower quality from £2 12/6 to £6. Heifers found buyers at up to £9/15/- for best sorts and others sold down to £2/5/-. A line of mixed-sex calves brought £3/14/-. A good quality dairy cow made £ll and others from £6 to £7/5/-. Old ewes with teeth and condition to recommend them changed hands at up to 17/3, mediums selling at from 12/- to 14/6 ana inferior down to 7/2. The two-tooth ewes forward were mixed in quality, the best price being 33/8. Others were disposed of at from 22/- to 30/-. The quality of the ewe lambs offered was also mediocre. The best of them sold from 18/9 to 22/-, two small lots being disposed of at 17/4 and 13/4 respectively. Two fat ewes which were above the average in weight were knocked, down at 30/- and other lines changed hands at from 24/6 upwards. DIVIDENDS DECLARED (P a ) WELLINGTON, April 24. Broken Hill Proprietary has declared a half-yearly dividend of 6d a share, Australian currency. . . . The English, Scottish and Australian Bank has declared a dividend of 2'/s per cent., less United Kingdom tax of 7/- in the £l. The National Insurance Company of New Zealand, Ltd., has declared an interim dividend of 4d for the half-year ended March 31, payable on May 16. GILLESPIE’S BEACH (P.A.) DUNEDIN, April 25.
