BREACH OF AWARD.— His reserved decision in the case in which the Inspector of Awards at Invercargill (Mr C. B. Rawlins) proceeded against the Tokanui Sawmilling Company (Mr S. M. Macalister) for breaches of the New Zealand Timber Workers’ Award has been given by the Magistrate (Mr R. C. Abernethy). Two of the four claims for penalties were settled between the parties; two others concerned the alleged paying of two employees for a period less than the minimum rates. Judgment for the plaintiff for £1 was given on one claim and judgment for the defendant was given on the second.
